Nature Maison in Maisonnais-sur-Tardoire
This is just the most gorgeous little French Maison - but not for people, more like the fairies! Actually, it's for small wildlife: beetles, bugs, lizards and sloworms. It has several levels and each is stuffed with twigs, straw, stones and bricks - all creating tiny homes for tiny creatures. It has a sloping roof to keep out the rain - of which we get plenty, hence the lakes and green fields, hence the Limousin cattle - and is also sheltered by being placed by a natural hedge of hawthorn and beech. The nature maison is on a bee nature trail that our village has set up - more about that though another time...
