Sorry but this book is soldI saw this under a pile of old rubbish - the colours just sang out to me! It's a rare limited edition of a book about the town of Clermont-Ferrand in the centre of France, the region with many extinct volcanoes - very topical! This is number 432 of a limited editon of 800.
I Googled and there is a copy at a Parisian bookshop for 135 euros, and another in an upcoming auction estimated 80-100 euros, so my listing starting at 39 euros is good value. See the listing here.
sorry, this item is soldDon't you just violets? This embroidery has mauve and white violets, on a burgundy background, and is signed 'Celia P' - I wonder how long it took her to complete...You can read more here and see a close-up or two.
Sorry, but I'm sold!
This is a lovely Napoleon III crumb tray and brush - all made in papier maché, and covered in glorious gold stars...just perfect for display in a dining room - or use it for brushing crumbs from your spotlessly white starched linen cloth...after all, if there are no servants to do it for you, brush away in style!See more details here!
This is just the most gorgeous little French Maison - but not for people, more like the fairies! Actually, it's for small wildlife: beetles, bugs, lizards and sloworms. It has several levels and each is stuffed with twigs, straw, stones and bricks - all creating tiny homes for tiny creatures. It has a sloping roof to keep out the rain - of which we get plenty, hence the lakes and green fields, hence the Limousin cattle - and is also sheltered by being placed by a natural hedge of hawthorn and beech. The nature maison is on a bee nature trail that our village has set up - more about that though another time...l
SORRY, BUT I'M SOLD!
This gorgeous French fabric is from an old day-bed cover. There is a small frill - which would be tucked down the back - and a deep frill which would be on display at the front. There is loads of fabric here to make cushions, lavender bags, basket liners - you can get more information here...
Sorry, these have now all been sold
These vintage French butcher shop labels are so evocative of summer holidays in Brittany...staying in rural gites and strolling down to the local butcher to buy supplies for the barbeque - all before the euro replaced the French franc of course! You can see the detail here - together with other kitchenalia - but hurry up as I have sold lots and only 8 or 9 left!
Sorry - I'm sold! Clic here to see the result.
Don't you think this is such a fabulous French find? A slinky satin cushion, made for a lady's boudoir, so plump and soft, stuffed with feathers and just ready to sink into, reading the latest novel or love letter...
Made anywhere between the 1930s and 1950s, this has been carefully stitched in tiny silks, finished with a metallic braid and tassel.
The figures are dressed in 18th century costume - the girls are being entertained by a young musician playing the mandolin - they look as though they are more interested in their gossip...you can see other photos and more description on my ebay page here - take a peek!
